About
Welcome to Act of Sweetness!
I began baking when I was young, and have always loved trying new recipes and making old family-favorites. 15 years ago, a co-worker asked me to make her a birthday cake because she knew no one would get her one. I refused to accept payment for it, and she dubbed my gesture an Act of Sweetness…and the name stuck!
Through the years, my baking focus has changed. I don’t make many cakes any more, but I do make “healthier sweet treats,” and mostly make custom-decorated sugar cookies right now. I enjoy the creative aspect and the look on someone’s face when they pick up their box of cookies.
When I’m not in my cookie workroom, you can find me hanging out with my 3 kiddos and my husband. We homeschool, which includes traveling around the country, hiking and exploring the parks and trails around us, reading all the books in the local libraries, and lots of time in the kitchen. All three kiddos love to cook and bake with me. Little C (pictured here) is working his way through my grandma’s recipe box this year! I’m sure he’ll surpass me in cooking skills soon.
A few other details about me:
* I don’t like sugar cookies. Give me gooey brownies or soft chocolate chip cookies any day, but I’m not the least bit tempted to eat any of the cookies I make for you!
* Before becoming a homeschooling baker mom, I taught kindergarten, worked for the Minnesota Twins, and biked hundreds of miles each year. I love how life ebbs and flows and each season has been wonderful.
* I have library cards to 3 local library systems, which is down from 5 a few years ago. I can never have too many books available for reading.
* I’m a Go-Giver and a networker. Helping people make connections makes me happy.
